UNESCO: International Symposium on the Water-Energy Nexus to Convene

September 2008: An International Symposium on ‘Resolving the Water-Energy Nexus’ will be held in Paris, France, from 26-28 November 2008. The Symposium will convene within the framework of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) International Hydrological Programme (IHP) in collaboration with UNESCO’s Renewable Energy Programme, and will be organized by the non-profit association RED-Ethique.

The meeting is also a preparatory event to the Fifth World Water Forum, which will take place in Istanbul in March 2009. Participants will address, inter alia: demand and evolution of water and energy; the Millennium Development Goals and climate change; integrated management of water-energy, political and economical approach; technical perspectives linking water and energy; sea-water desalination; water and renewable energies; and water and biofuels.
